Silloth Golf Club is a superb if challenging course on the Cumbrian coast and in the top 50 of all UK golf courses. They kindly ‘gave the course’ to Prostate Cancer Support (PCS) for an Open Competition in support of our charity. The entry of 100 players filled up remarkably quickly and all the entry fees (£6,000) were given to PCS to support underpinning the cost of private PSA testing in the less affluent areas of the country.
The weather was kind with the expected, almost normal, breeze on a links course.
Congratulations go to Carl Beattie, David Ridley, Simon Frazer and Craig Whitehead, clear winners with a superb 89 points.
Combined with the event we held a PSA testing day for the community around Silloth. 137 men were tested with 14 red and 14 amber results found. Thanks go to Karen, Richard’s wife, for her help with the logistics of the testing day.
We would like to extend our thanks to Jimmy Lettice and Club Secretary Alan Oliver for their first-class organisation and to Captain Martin Slack for his great support.
