The ‘save a dad’ cartoon that we use in some of our advertising was originally drawn by a school child to try to get other children to talk to their parents about prostate cancer and to push their fathers to recognise the importance of getting checked. Because this was so well received, and still is, it subsequently became one of our themes, particularly when talking to schools and colleges about prostate cancer. This is an important area of awareness only too often ignored and we continue to use the cartoon to encourage younger people to think about their parents.
Of course, we recognise that not all men are ‘dads’ but this is just one facet of our communications to increase the overall awareness of prostate cancer.
